Police are investigating a two-vehicle weekend crash on U.S. Highway 90 that sent 12 people, including several children, to area hospitals.
The names of those injured in Saturday’s accident were not released. Police say the accident occurred at U.S. Highway 90 and Courthouse Road when a pickup truck and a SUV collided.
Authorities say the pickup’s driver, a 38-year-old man from Shelby, was in the westbound lane attempting to turn south onto the Courthouse pier when his truck was struck by the eastbound SUV driven by a 29-year-old Biloxi woman.
Gulfport Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said six people were taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and six to Garden Park Medical Center. He didn’t think any of the injuries were life-threatening.
