Police in Gulfport have made an arrest in the stabbing death of 78-year-old Francis Roberts, whose body was found last month in a wooded area near a community college.

Authorities say 42-year-old John Paul Necaise is charged with murder and is currently being held at the Pearl River County Jail without bond.

Roberts was reported missing on Oct. 30. His body was found in the woods near the Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College after a five-day search.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Roberts died from a single stab wound to the back.
