House Gaming Committee to meet at casinos

The Mississippi House Gaming Committee is going on the road this week to discuss issues important to the casino industry.

The committee is meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi and at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ameristar casino in Vicksburg.

Among the issues to be discussed are a proposed statewide smoking ban, a proposed hotel bed tax and the opening and closing procedures for casinos during natural disasters. Legislators also will talk about the impact of the economic downturn on the casino industry and Mississippi casinos’ position on Internet gaming.
