Officials say five children were taken to a hospital for examinations after a Jackson County school bus ran off Poticaw Bayou Road.
The rear driver’s side of bus No. 244 was leaning against a utility poll after the Tuesday morning accident.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says only the five children were aboard the bus at the time of the accident. He said one complained of minor pain, but all five were taken to a hospital to be checked out. Byrd says the driver was not injured.
The sheriff says it appears a front wheel of the bus ran off the roadway and, when the driver tried to correct the problem, the vehicle turned on its side.
Byrd said the accident remains under investigation.
