The National Governors Association will hold its 2009 meeting in Mississippi in July.
The event will be held at the Beau Rivage and the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center, among other sites. It’s expected to draw nearly 1,500 people, including lobbyists, business, and economics officials.
All 50 U.S. governors and some U.S. territorial governors will be invited to the July 17-20 event. The NGA had scheduled a meeting in Mississippi in 2006, but Hurricane Katrina left widespread damage along the Gulf Coast a year earlier, forcing officials to move it.
The last time the NGA held its annual meeting in Mississippi was in Biloxi in 1935.
