Mt. Calvary Baptist Church

For the past 73 years, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church has been celebrating Christmas at 310 Mitchell Street in Picayune. The congregation wishes to share their sweet fellowship with the people of Pearl River County.

The columns and doors of each of the three buildings are beautifully adorned with wreaths of gold and burgundy. The porch is decorated with iron sculptures surrounded with poinsettias of ivory, burgundy and pink. You can plan on being greeted by members of our congregation as you enter the doors into our sanctuary.

As you stand in the vestibule beside a Christmas tree of gold and ivory, your eyes are quickly drawn to the baptistry area which is the focal point of our sanctuary. A huge wooden cross draped with burgundy and gold, surrounded at the base with poinsettias and greenery, reminds us of the reason for the earthly birth of Christ. Two giant trees stand in each corner of the stage area to further express the sentiment of the season. The candle lit window dressings made of pine with gold and burgundy accents line the sides of the building. Greenery, poinsettias, wreaths and lights help to enhance the theme of the decorations.

The warmth and glow of the season is also reflected in the church’s fellowship hall. The room is bathed in the glow of candlelight. You will want to take note of the large Christmas tree which has been decorated with heirloom crocheted ornaments. The refreshment table is graced with fresh flowers on antique, crystal pedestals; a silver punch bowl and trays.

Pastor Wayne Rice and the members of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church look forward to sharing this Christmas season with all of you.
