The Picayune Police Department reports that seven of the missing suspects in the largest prescription drug ring in the city’s history have been found, but three more are still at large.
Investigation into a claim by a doctor’s office that one of their employees had allegedly stolen prescription pads and was using them illegally led to the arrest of 14 people.
Three people are still wanted in connection with this operation for charges of fraud and acquisition of a controlled substance, prescription forgery and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance. They include Chris Jordan, 25, of 3319 Jackson Landing Rd. 20 counts; Zona Marchand, 26, of 1103 Doverville Court, Slidell, 25 counts and Calvin Falcon, 35, of 2513 Bluebird St., Slidell, 5 counts.
After the Slidell, La., based doctor’s office called the Picayune Police Department to report the crime, an investigation began. Investigators found that 23 year-old Rachel Whitfield, of 2057 Sixth St., Slidell, allegedly was selling prescriptions using the stolen blank prescriptions. She has since been charged with 216 counts of fraud and acquisition of a controlled substance, prescription forgery and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.
Whitfield was allegedly writing herself prescriptions and filling them in Picayune pharmacies. She is also suspected filling the prescriptions in Kiln, Poplarville and Slidell pharmacies.
The investigation began when a patient of the doctor’s office notified office personnel that Whitfield was allegedly selling prescriptions in the office parking lot for the price of a doctor’s visit, $200.
Whitfield also is charged with visiting a number of people at their homes to write them prescriptions, asking for half of the medication as payment.
