Hattiesburg Police have arrested a Texas man for allegedly transporting 500 pounds of marijuana.

Police said 35-year-old Alexander Lara of Weslaco, Texas, was traveling north on I-59 in an 18-wheeler Friday when he was pulled over by police for a traffic violation.

Investigators say Lara’s nervous behavior prompted the officer to search the vehicle in which the marijuana, with a street value of $250,000, was discovered.

Lara is charged with possession of marijuana over five kilograms with intent to deliver.
