Lumberton workers again have prescription coverage

Lumberton officials are again paying the town’s bills and that means about 30 city employees have had their prescription drug insurance reinstated.

Aldermen voted Tuesday to pay the city’s bills. Mayor Larry Strahan said the list of city bills was to have been paid Nov. 7 but action was delayed after aldermen argued about some items.

The delay meant insurance for prescription medicine was canceled for city employees and aldermen.

Strahan said the city now will pay the bill by automatic payment instead of handwriting a check each month.
