Legal volunteers to help on election day

A coalition of groups has set up a toll-free hot line for voters who experience any problems at the polls on Tuesday.

Nsombi Lambright of the Mississippi American Civil Liberties Union and state NAACP President Derrick Johnson also say they’ve recruited 250 lawyers to assist voters who encounter problems. During a news conference Friday, Johnson said at least two attorneys will be assigned to each of Mississippi’s 82 counties.

Johnson said a record number of ballots will be cast in Tuesday’s elections, and the groups want to “ensure voters are able to do so in a way that’s most effective.”
