Jackson’s troubled mayor is back at work following an undisclosed medical procedure.
Mayor Frank Melton’s return was announced Monday in a release by the city.
Goldia Revies, a spokeswoman for Melton, did not disclose the nature of his medical problem.
Councilman Frank Bluntson, who drove the mayor to St. Dominic Hospital on Nov. 18, said he understood Melton was having problems with his defibrillator. However, Revies denied the surgery was related to the mayor’s previous heart condition.
Melton and a former bodyguard face three federal felony charges stemming from the damaging of a duplex in Jackson that the mayor considered a crack house. Their trial is scheduled for January.
