Hanging out in Olive Branch? It’s gonna cost ya.
Loitering is now crime in the DeSoto County city.
Aldermen had planned to pass a loitering ordinance for a while because of occasional complaints from business owners.
They acted recently in anticipation of possible protesters showing up against a white power conference at a local hotel. The conference was canceled. The ordinance remains.
It makes it a crime to linger in a public street or on private property open to the public without the permission of the owner.
Violators face a maximum penalty of a $300 fine and 90 days in jail.
