A one vehicle accident in the Pearlington area led to the death of Carriere resident, Charles Arthur Colton.

Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Cpl. Johnny Poulos said the accident occurred in the south bound lane of Miss. 607 at about 7:30 Thursday evening, Hancock County Coroner Norma Stiglet said.

Colton, 46, lost control of the vehicle on Miss. 607 just south of Miss. 604. When Colton attempted to regain control of the vehicle, he overcorrected and the vehicle flipped. Colton was ejected during the accident, Poulos said, and died at the scene.

Hancock County Coroner Norma Stiglet said the cause of death was due to massive head and chest trauma. He also suffered multiple bodily injuries.

The accident is still under investigation, Poulos said.
