At home with the Edwards on Christmas

In the serene subdivision of North Hill is the home of Eddie and JoAnn Edwards. The Edwards, formerly of St. Bernard Parish in Louisiana moved to Picayune nine years ago. The Couple chose North Hill for its beauty, large lots and community.
Eddie Edwards grows, shows and hybridizes award winning roses in the couple’s backyard. During the two peak blooming cycles of the year every room has beautiful bouquets of roses. Not to mention, friends and neighbors get to share in the crop.
The couple, who are both avid cooks, like to say they built a house around a gourmet kitchen. They also said they have no formal rooms, you enter into a large living room that connects to a wide open kitchen and keeping room which spills out onto a large back porch. The back of the home offers views of roses, oak trees and a lake — a home to several ducks and geese.
“If we want fish for supper we just catch them from the lake, how fresh is that?” said JoAnn Edwards.
The Edwards love to entertain with their family and friends. They have one grandchild, ten-year-old Ethan Phelps, who is the third generation to attend Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in Chalmette, La.
“We are so proud of Ethan, Eddie is naming his latest rose creation after him,” said JoAnn Edwards.
The couple likes to decorate for the holidays but they do not believe in going overboard, living by the “less is more” philosophy.
JoAnn Edwards is a collector of Lizzie High Dolls and, passed down from several generations, she posses two sets of 1800 porcelain dolls from the Edwards’ family.
“We’re looking forward to having everyone join us Saturday, Dec. 6. It will be a pleasure to help contribute towards a scholarship for students from Pearl River Central and Picayune High School.”
From the Edward’s home to yours, Merry Christmas.
