A one vehicle accident on Rock Ranch Road took the life of a local resident.

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department got a call about the accident Sunday at about 9 p.m., said Chief Deputy Shane Tucker. A 1996 Nissan Sentra was traveling south on the road when, for an unknown reason, it left the road on the left shoulder, struck a tree, crossed back onto the road before leaving the road from the right shoulder, Tucker said.

The vehicle rolled over several times after leaving the road from the right shoulder and at some time during the accident the driver, Weston Lee, 25, of Carriere, was ejected from the vehicle, Tucker said.

Lee was taken to Forrest General Hospital where he died away sometime later, Tucker said.

Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said Lee’s cause of death was attributed to closed head injury.
