New West Nile case reported in Jones Co.

The state Department of Health reports one new human case of West Nile virus, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 100. So far this year, health officials report three deaths — one each in Hinds, Forrest and Leflore counties.
The new case is in Jones County. The agency also reports one case of another mosquito-borne virus, Equine Encephalitis, in a horse in Perry County.
Six cases of Equine Encephalitis and two cases of West Nile have been reported in horses.
