Jackson Co. supervisors OK loan

Jackson County supervisors have approved a $35 million loan so Singing River Hospital System can complete three expansion and renovation projects at its two medical centers.

The projects include a 20-bed addition at Ocean Springs Hospital, bringing the facility’s total to 156 beds; and patient room renovations and emergency department improvements at the 415-bed Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula.

Supervisors approved the loan Monday.

In July, supervisors had voted to allow the health care system to borrow up to $47 million to refinance loans on more favorable terms.
