The child nutrition director of Hazlehurst schools is the latest administrator to be dismissed from the academically and financially troubled district, and six others have been suspended.
The state Department of Education, which took the district over in May, confirmed the termination and dismissals Monday. A maintenance worker also resigned last week.
Two assistant principals were suspended Friday for three days. Four teachers were suspended Monday, also for a three-day period. Caron Blanton, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, say they all are expected to return to work on Thursday.
Blanton says the reasons for the termination and suspensions cannot be provided because they are personnel issues.
In May, Governor Haley Barbour declared a state of emergency in the Hazlehurst city schools and allowed the Department of Education to take over the district.
