The former manager of the University of Mississippi’s campus radio station has pleaded guilty to credit card fraud.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old William East entered plea Tuesday in Lafayette County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to the Regimented Inmate Discipline, or RID, program, that is operated similarly to a military boot camp.

Prosecutors say if East successfully completes the program, he will avoid a felony record. East also must repay the $8,000 he allegedly charged to someone else’s credit card.

East was arrested last week on campus for failing to appear in the court on the fraud charge.

After the arrest, school officials learned East was last enrolled as a university student in May 2006 and dismissed him from the radio station.
