Rapper posts $25,000 bond

At least one felony charge has been dropped against hip-hop rap star Webster “Webbie” Gradney.

The 23-year-old Gradney faces felony eluding, misdemeanor DUI and possession of marijuana charges following a high-speed chase Sunday in Hattiesburg. He also was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, which stemmed from a collision during the chase, but the charge was dropped.

Gradney, of Baton Rouge, had his initial appearance Monday. Following the hearing, Gradney was released after posting a $25,000 bond.

Police said Gradney led an officer on a high-speed chase after he refused to pull over for an alleged traffic violation on I-59 Sunday afternoon.

Gradney, a national recording artist, was the headliner at the 2008 Memorial Day Jump-Off Concert at Smith-Wills Stadium.
