Moss Point officials have narrowly approved a $15.2 million budget after concerns over the local school district’s request for an additional $600,000.

The request for more money comes at time when enrollment in the Moss Point School District has declined.

The budget was approved this week only after Mayor Xavier Bishop was forced to break a tie vote among the six board of aldermen members present.

Alderman Tommy Hightower, one of those voting no, said a recent meeting of school and city officials did little to alleviate his concerns about the district’s budget request.
