A 21-year-old man charged with murder in the shooting death of Eric Trotter has pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of manslaughter.
Malcom Davis was in court Tuesday standing trial for the May 6, 2007, shooting death in Laurel when prosecutors and the defense agreed to a plea arrangement.
Davis now awaits sentencing on the reduced charge.
Laurel Police Detective Michael Reaves testified on Monday. He identified photos of Trotter’s body and photos of shell casings found at the scene. The 30-year-old Trotter was gunned down in front of his home.
Authorities say Trotter was shot once in the back of the head and once in the lower back.
