Military investigators are still tying to determine what happened to a Kentucky soldier whose skeletal remains were found in June on a Mississippi base.
Spc. Ryan Longnecker was training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi when he disappeared Aug. 6, 2007, just two days before his unit left for Iraq.
The military first said the 19-year-old Kentucky National Guard soldier ran off with two guns.
His remains, however, were found by another soldier June 3 in the woods on the 136,000-acre training base. His weapons were nearby.
Chris Grey, an Army spokesman, says the cause of the death is undetermined and the investigation continues.
He said anyone with information should call police or the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division.
