The state Department of Marine Resources says its Shrimp and Crab Bureau has established a toll-free Mississippi shrimp fishery information line.

Bureau Director Traci Floyd said the Shrimp Information Hotline — 1-866-We Trawl (1-866-938-7295) — will benefit fishermen who often are at sea for extended periods and don’t always have access to the media for the latest information.

The hotline provides such information as area openings and closures and federal Emergency Disaster Recovery program updates.
