$1M grant provide for chronic disease prevention

The Mississippi Department of Health has been awarded $1.05 million for a chronic disease prevention program.

U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, announced the grant Wednesday from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The government says the funds may be used by communities to improve on community awareness and prevention of heart disease and stroke, and other chronic diseases and services for its citizens including public health safety.
