Pick It Up Picayune was a good campaign run from 2006 – 2008. It is an ongoing anti-litter campaign. WalMart, the Chamber of Commerce, the GFWC-MFWC Civic Woman’s Club of Picayune, and many other organizations worked hard. With the help of all these agencies a baler was purchased and we were told that Coastal Waste was donating the collection bins for the Recycling Center. You have a very good question – “When Will The Recycling Center Open?”

We all want to know that. I wrote a report for a Community Improvement Program, which won Fourth Place at the GFWC International Convention in Chicago in June.

The citizens of Picayune want to know when the Recycling Center, located at Picayune City Hall on Beech Street, will be opened for recycling. If run properly, the Recycling Center can make money to pay an employee to operate the baler.
