About 600 Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 74 will return home beginning Monday from a seven-month deployment in Iraq and other areas.

While on deployment, at the Ocean Platform Oil Terminals off the coast of Al Basrah, Iraq, the Seabees removed a 200-foot steel bridge, fabricated and installed 500 linear feet of steel safety rails and replaced more than 1,000 square feet of steel decking.

They also laid more than 8,130 tons of asphalt in the desert while at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

They also performed work in Ethiopia, Kenya, Trinidad and Ghana.
