Miss. shares in rural road funds

Hinds County and the Mississippi Department of Transportation will share $2.3 million in federal funding for improvements to rural roads.
The announcement came Wednesday in Raymond from U.S. Transportation Deputy Secretary Thomas J. Barrett.
Barrett says 14 states, including Mississippi, three counties and two parishes will share in $14.7 million.
Officials from MDOT and Hinds County say the money will be used to equip roads with new rumble strips and better signs to make it easier for drivers to stay on the road.
MDOT will get $1.9 million in funding while Hinds County will receive $303,552.
