Jackson police say an officer shot and killed a dog after the animal attempted to attack another police officer.

Sergeant Jeffery Scott says the officers were responding to a complaint from a neighbor who told dispatchers a pit bull tried to attack her in her carport.

When the officers arrived at the home, Scott says the dog “charged” at one of the officers.
