Hosemann: Some Wilkinson voting help ‘improper’

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says he believes some voters were given “improper assistance” last month during an election in Wilkinson County.

Hosemann released a report Tuesday saying observers from his office saw one poll worker at the Woodville Fire Station “vigorously” assisting voters. The report says the poll worker probably knew what choices some people made on electronic ballots.

Mississippi had state and county elections in 2007, but the Wilkinson County Democratic primary was contested in court. A judge ordered new elections for circuit clerk, sheriff and one county supervisor’s post.
