Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is urging Mississippians to participate in “Scam Jam” this year.
The annual event is hosted by Hosemann’s office and is meant to teach people how to avoid fraud, identity theft and other scams.
Hoseman says “Mississippians are some of the most generous people in the nation” but are sometimes “taken advantage of by unscrupulous individuals.”
The events will be held on Saturdays this month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in shopping malls around the state, beginning Saturday in Meridian. Scam Jam moves to Hattiesburg August 9, Jackson August 16 and Tupelo August 23.
