PRC school board hold short meeting

The school board for the Pearl River County School District held a short meeting last night to discuss several agenda items.
Nina Guthrie, assistant superintendent, read the superintendent’s report in the absence of Superintendent Dennis Penton.
“Dub Herring had a survey done on St. Michael’s property that we are trying to purchase, and the cost of that is — he is allowing us to purchase that (the survey) for half the cost at $2,500. This would complete the purchase of that property, if you are in agreement with doing that,” Guthrie said.
The board approved a motion to purchase the property.
The report also included district registration information, which is set to take place 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. tomorrow through Friday in the Carriere Campus Cafeteria for all the schools in the district.
In other matters, the board:
— Approved financial matters.
— Approved personnel matters.
— Approved the third and final reading of the Video Surveillance Tapes policy.
— Approved the price increase on extra sale items sold in the school cafeterias.
— Approved the additional sale of pizza at the high school cafeteria weekly during lunch, Tuesday – Friday, beginning Aug. 19.
— Approved the concession stand and athletic events fees for the different booster clubs and outside organizations that request to use an athletic facility.
— Approved the ballgame duty for the 2008-2009 school year at PRC High School.
— Approved the prices for the athletic gate fees and season passes for the PRC 2008-2009 school year.
— Approved requests from several students to attend the PRC School District for the 2008-2009 school year.
— Approved the Mississippi Cycle II Menus during the 2008-2009 school year.
— Approved several Child Nutrition Programs for the 2008-2009 school year.
— Went into executive session on several matters.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., July 28.
