A Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality official is in Washington D.C. this week to testify about shortages of water in underground aquifers.
Jamie Crawford is the assistant director for the Office of Land and Water Resources at the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
He represents MDEQ on the Ground Water Protection Council, which will brief a Congressional committed on the water situation.
Crawford’s testimony will focus on water availability and data collection needs.
In Mississippi, notable aquifer declines are occurring in areas with concentrated ground water withdrawal.
