A young boy was hit by a car attempting to cross U.S. 11 toward Bruce Street Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. where two juvenile boys were crossing the street leaving Winn-Dixie. Picayune Police Public Information Officer Capt. Theresa Milar said the older of the two boys made it across the street first. When second younger boy attempted to shoot across the street after the older boy he headed into the path of a north bound car. The boy was transported to Highland Community Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries and released later that same afternoon, Milar said.

No charges were pressed in the incident.
