Bolivar County supervisors have agreed to name a new boat ramp at Lake Bolivar for William Fisher Johnson.

Supervisor Donny Whitten says Johnson has been credited with saving several people during the Mississippi River flood of April 21, 1927.

Whitten says the boat ramp at one time included a small, roadside park, complete with picnic tables. He says it had fallen prey to time and vandals.

Whitten says the state will be asked to restore the boat ramp with an agreement from Bolivar County to maintain it.
