Attorney General Jim Hood says Mississippi has received its portion of a $35 million national settlement with the drugstore chain Walgreen Company.

The settlement resolves claims that the pharmacy improperly switched forms of medicines from what the doctors had prescribed to receive greater reimbursements from Medicaid.

Hood, in a news release, said Walgreen has sent two checks totaling $30,467. About half of the money is restitution to the Mississippi Division of Medicaid. The rest goes to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
