A motorist died after her vehicle was hit head-on by a trailer that had come loose from a truck and crossed the I-10 median in Jackson County.

Coroner Vicki Broadus identified the victim as 49-year-od Katherine Stuart Hall of Baton Rouge, La.

A Highway Patrol spokesman says the accident happened Wednesday after a trailer broke loose from a westbound pickup, and the trailer crossed the median, hitting the woman’s Toyota in the eastbound lanes of I-10 at the Alabama state line.

The truck’s driver was not injured.
