Clay County thinking ‘smoke free’

Clay County Supervisors will look into a smoke-free policy, through Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance, which could affect smokers-even if you don’t work for the county.
According to the policy being considered no tobacco will be allowed by employees, visitors or vendors for the county in any county buildings or vehicles.
County workers will not be able use tobacco when working outside the office or during business travel.
Employees will not be able to use tobacco on any neighboring property indoors or outdoors and all employees must sign a tobacco-free statement to ensure understanding of the smoke free policy.
Robbie Robinson, chancery clerk, says the issue will be addressed in July by the board.
