The Reverend Canon Jay W. Breisch, passed away at his home in North Potomac, Md., Friday, May 2, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Surviving are three sons, David, of Miles City, Mont.; Douglas (and Sally) of North Potomac; and Drew (and Belinda) of Sharon, Okla; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his brother, Dewey, and his sister, Louise.
Father Jay was a priest of the Episcopal Church. He served as an Assistant at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Picayune. He also served as the Executive Director and Vice President for Saint Francis Academy in Salina, Kan. and Picayune. Father Jay served as Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Nashotah House Seminary where he graduated and earned an M.Div. He served as a parish priest in Ashippun, Wis., Hoffman Estates, Ill., Milwaukee, Wis., Mitchell, S.D., and was Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Eau Clair, Wis. Before entering seminary, Father Jay was an official court reporter in Chicago and Rockford, Ill.
Services will be at Nashotah House Seminary and burial in the cemetery there beside his wife, Marlis. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1421 Goodyear Blvd. in Picayune, celebrated by the Reverend Kathleen Potts and the Reverend Canon Jerves Burns.
