Aggravated assault in Poplarville, bond set for Ladner
Poplarville Police officers responded to a call and made an arrest in an aggravated assault case Sunday evening, and bond has been set for a Poplarville man charged with manslaughter.
Poplarville Police Chief Charles Fazende said Patrick Johns, 17, of Poplarville, was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly attacked an individual at the victim’s home.
The victim answered a knock at the door and was attacked by Johns, who beat the victim up with brass knuckles and threatened the victim with a handgun, Fazende said. The police chief said the victim did not know any motive for the beating.
The victim was treated at the scene for cuts to the face and mouth.
Johns is being held without bond at the Pearl River County Jail.
In other police news, a bond hearing was held Wednesday for Jeremy Russell Ladner, who was arrested for the Sunday shooting death of 16 year old Shaun Phillip Allen.
Ladner, 20, turned himself in to investigators after originally fleeing the scene of the crime.
Bond for Ladner has been set at $60,000.
He is being held at the Pearl River County Jail at Millard.
