Firefighters are holding a boot drive Friday and Saturday to help keep emergency help in the county.

The boot drive seeks to raise enough money to keep an American Red Cross representative in the county.

Picayune firefighters will be at the corner of Canal Street and U.S. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday collecting donations. Their efforts are part of this year’s Heroes program.

Picayune Public Relations Director Jon Myers said the county-wide goal is to raise $10,000 during the Heroes program. Last year, which was the first year Pearl River County participated, the county raised $7,000.
