Adams County Sheriff’s officials say they have pulled the body of an unidentified man out of the Mississippi Rivers floodwaters.
Adams County Sheriff Ronny Brown said his office received a call around 2:30 p.m. Saturday from a boater in the Carthage Point Road area saying there was a body in the river.
Civil Defense Director Stan Owens and the sheriffs office search and rescue team recovered the body from the river. Authorities said it was a man who was in an advanced state of decomposition.
Brown said the man had clothes on but no shoes. He said no one had been reported missing in the last two weeks in Adams County.
Coroner James Lee said his office plans to do DNA testing and check for dental samples to determine the man’s identity.
