A Jackson County man has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2003 slaying of Keith Franklin.

John Johnson was convicted of murder Wednesday in circuit court.

Franklin was killed Nov. 19, 2003.

Prosecutors said Johnson, who was in his truck, and Franklin got into an argument at the home of Linda Mizell in Moss Point. Prosecutors said Johnson shot Franklin as he driving away.

Johnson claimed self-defense.
