A car chase that began in St. Bernard Parish, La., ended in Pearl River County after Louisiana law enforcement officers used a “pit” maneuver.
Apparently the suspect, Andrew Moity, 27, of Chalmette, had an aggravated assault warrant in St. Bernard Parish, said Pearl River County deputy, Maj. Shane Tucker, the department’s chief investigator.
The Louisiana officers’ attempt to place Moity under arrest began a pursuit that ended near the Anchor Lake area in Carriere.
At about 5:30 Friday afternoon the chase ended in Pearl River County at about the 13 mile marker on Interstate 59 in the north bound lane. St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parish officers performed a pit maneuver on the suspect’s vehicle just as Pearl River County Sheriff’s Deputies joined in on the chase, Tucker said.
A pit maneuver is when one car pushes on a rear quarter panel of another car, causing the first car lose traction and spin out.
Moity is being held at the Pearl River County jail awaiting extradition to St. Bernard Parish.
