Man arrested on several charges

A suspect charged for an alleged residential burglary was later found to be in possession of keys to a stolen car.

Picayune Police Department Public Information Officer Capt. Theresa Milar said early Wednesday morning at about 4:26 a female juvenile was awakened by a man standing over her in her bedroom with his hand on her forehead.

When the girl woke up and saw the suspect,, she screamed several times for him to leave, which he didn’t do. After the juvenile kicked the suspect, he fled the scene and she called 911.

While on the phone with the police department, she gave them a description of the suspect. Milar said officers on their way to the scene located a suspect near Maple and Carroll Street thatfit the description given by the juvenile. The suspect was taken into custody and identified as Denson Parker, 24, of 404 Peach St., lot 15. The victim apparently knew Denson as being someone who lived close to her.

Officers found a car key while searching Denson.

Thursday at about 9 a.m. a resident on Carter Street reported a suspicious vehicle parked near their home. Officers checked the vehicle and later discovered the key found in Denson’s pocket fit the vehicle.

The vehicle, a Ford Focus, had been reported stolen the previous day at about 11:12 a.m. from Adcox Road. Milar said apparently the vehicle was stolen before he broke into the victim’s home.

Denson was charged with residential burglary, child molestation and grand larceny auto. Even though nothing was taken from the juvenile victim’s home residential burglary was applied to Denson’s charges because the nature of his other crimes.
