City Council meets Tuesday

The Picayune City Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the council’s chambers at the new City Hall, 815 N. Beech St.

— Issuance of manual checks.

Consider petitions and communications:

— Junior Auxiliary Provisional Class 2008 to rebuild two benches at Friendship Park playground.

— 1st Baptist Church of Picayune to hold 5K run March 22 with registration at 7 a.m. at Jack Read Park, race at 8 a.m.

Consider new business:

— Reappoint Hilbert Miller to the Cemetery Commission.

— Reappoint James Schrock to the library system.

— Reappoint or appoint new member to the Contractors Board.

— Cross Connection Control Policy provided by Rural Community Assistance Program and authorize mayor to sign it.

— Request to have mayor sign letter to Miss. Dept. of Transportation in reference to the Memorial Boulevard improvements phase 2 and the consultant selection certification.

— Application to Miss. Emergency Management Agency for a drainage improvement project.

— Set a public hearing for property cleanup on two parcels.

— Public hearing on National Home Furnishings.

— Budget modification of Violence Against Women grant for additional funds.

— Request to receive an Arson/K-9 dog on grant from State Farm Insurance.

— Appoint a member of the city council to serve on board to oversee new ambulance contract.

Consider going into executive session leasing office space, on contractual matters and on a personnel matter.
