A young woman was apparently robbed by a man wearing a mask and carrying a weapon while she was attempting to drop off a business deposit.

Poplarville Police Investigator John Kramer said the call concerning the alleged robbery came in at about 9:26 p.m. Thursday evening.

The robbery took place outside the Hancock Bank while a young woman was dropping off a deposit for a local business when what she described as a young black male wearing all black, a mask and carrying a baseball bat approached her. The suspect was described as being between 5’9” to 6 feet in height with a muscular build and weighing about 200 pounds, Kramer said.

Only one suspect was described to be involved in the incident, Kramer said.

After the robbery the suspect ran through the bank’s parking lot before heading south on South Julia where the victim lost sight of the suspect, Kramer said.

Any information concerning the incident should be directed to the Poplarville Police Department at 601-795-4447.
