A Picayune man has been indicted by a Lafayette County grand jury with capital murder in the shooting death of University of Mississippi sprinter Rodney Lydale Lockhart.

The indictment was handed down Dec. 7 and was filed Wednesday, according to records in the circuit clerk’s office.

Christian Bonner, 20, was indicted for shooting and killing Lockhart on Sept. 28 during a robbery. Bonner has been held at the county jail since his arrest on Oct. 5.

Authorities have said that Bonner knew Lockhart.
