A 31-year-old Gautier man faces charges of carjacking and kidnapping.

Jeffery Lee Hutcherson was arrested Thursday, police said. Police used an ATM surveillance video to identify Hutcherson.

The incident started at a LaFont Inn in Pascagoula, where police responded to a carjacking call.

Pascagoula Police Lt. Paul Leonard said Hutcherson forced his way into a vehicle with a handgun, demanded the driver take him to an ATM in Moss Point to withdraw funds and then stole the victim’s silver 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a temporary Louisiana tag.

“As the victim was standing at the ATM, the suspect drove off,” Leonard said.
