Picayune standout senior running back Albert Richard was selected to represent the state of Mississippi against Alabama on Wednesday.

Richard was chosen as one of the four running backs on the Mississippi team that will face Alabama in the 21st annual Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Football Classic that will take place on Monday, Dec. 17th at historic Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.

Richard has run for almost 1,200 yards his season after rushing for over 2,200 yards and scoring 33 touchdowns as a junior last season.

He leads Picayune into the Class 4A state playoffs Friday as the Maroon Tide hosts Gautier in the opening round.

“Albert is a special kid and a special player, he deserves every honor he gets,” Picayune head coach Dodd Lee said.

This will be the first time the game is played in December after the game had been played for 20 years in June.
